Understanding Cataracts

Cataracts are a common eye condition that typically affects older adults. They occur when the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, which can cause blurry vision, difficulty seeing at night, and sensitivity to light. While cataracts cannot be prevented, there are steps you can take to reduce your risk of developing them, such as wearing sunglasses to protect your eyes from UV rays and quitting smoking.

Treatment for Cataracts

If you do develop cataracts, the only way to treat them is through surgery. During cataract surgery, the cloudy lens is removed and replaced with an artificial one. This is a safe and effective procedure that can greatly improve your vision and quality of life.

If you're experiencing any symptoms of cataracts, talk to your eye doctor to discuss your treatment options.
