Unique Life Style, Unique Lens Design
At PersonalEyes, we strive to prescribe & fit (not sale) the perfect lens design for your everyday needs. Not all lenses are made equally and there are so many lens manufacturers to choose from. It would be extremely unfair to have you as our patient make that decision. We offer a variety of state-of-the-art lens options for optimal clarity and comfort to help meet your lifestyle needs. Lens design is just one part of this puzzle. Next comes choosing from various different lens materials as well as different lens coatings. Follow me and I'll take you though the process!
Digital Lenses vs Stock Lenses
First and foremost, traditionally surfaced lenses are created with a basic approach. The lenses are produced using "pre-molded" templates which means every lens is identically the same. If all goes right, this method get your prescription within 1/10 of a diopter of your actual prescription. For Dr. Patel, that is not acceptable!
As we know, every human being is different. We have unique fingerprints to unique taste palettes. Why do our eyes have to be treated as generic? Digitally surfaced lenses are high-definition lenses that are created with state-of-the-art equipment, using a diamond-point lathe cutter controlled by computer software. Each prescription is etched into the back of the lens. In the end, these digitally surfaced lenses are within 1/100th of a diopter of your actual prescription, 10 times more accurate than traditional stock lenses.
Digital lenses take 3x more time to make than traditional lenses! Image the accuracy of prescription!
Digital Multi-Focal Progressive Lenses
Multi-focal progressive lenses can be difficult for patients to adjust to, especially if you’re a new progressive wearer. At PersonalEyes, Dr. Patel and staff will sit down, analyze your daily tasks and recommend 1 of 4 Shamir lens designs. Not only does the correct design matter, choosing the best fitting frame is just as important (i.e panoscopic tilt, faceform wrap, vertex distance, etc). Our newest lens design, Shamir Autograph Intelligence™ progressive lens is perfect for those who stare at 1-2 desktop monitors at eye level. This lens has a wide viewing corridor that reduces peripheral distortion. Stop by our optical, grab a brochure and let us educate you more regarding the digital lens designs we offer.
Computer Glasses
From occupations to social interactions, every human is interacting with technology on a daily basis. We focus on those eyes the most at PersonalEyes. The incidence of dry eye and eye fatigue associated with viewing screens gone up exponentially. Most people experienced this fatigue at the end of the day. Unique lens designs have been developed to help fight this particular version of digital eye strain for EVERY AGE:
- Ages 5-39 - We recommend the Shamir Relax™ lens Design! This lens provides small amounts of magnification towards the bottom of the lens to help the eyes relax when viewing computer screens and devices.
- Ages 40 and Above - We recommend one of two lens designs: Shamir Computer (5ft working distance) or Shamir Workspace (10ft working distance).
Lens Materials
- CR-39 - Not Available at PersonalEyes Vision Care due to poor quality plastic!
- Polycarbonate - Recommended for visual quality and durability.
- Trivex - Dr. Patel highest recommended lens material for optimal clarity and durability
- Hi Index - A must for those who's prescription is more than 4.00 D or those choosing an oversized frame
Blue Blocker
Shamir Blue Zero provides protection from the potential harm of natural and artificial light sources present in our everyday lives, from TV to computer screens, smartphones, tablets, and most importantly - the sun! Blue light exposure has been linked to blurry vision, increased risk of eye disease, dry and irritated eyes, headaches, difficulty sleeping, and even neck and back pain. Stop by our optical and let us prove our blue light blocker quality today!
Anti-Reflective Coatings
If we at PersonalEyes could recommend one product that makes the biggest optical improvement to visual clarity, it would be an Anti-Reflective Coating. We offer a few different types of lens coatings that can protect your eyes from harmful UV ray while also prolonging the life of your lenses. The better the coating, the higher the cost and the more durable the coating is. When wearing glasses without this protection, glare or reflections cause visual disturbances which can be especially hazardous at night. Most importantly, majority of our coatings protect you from the sun (>SPF25) just like sunscreen protects your skin!
Transitions® – Light Adaptive Lenses
Transitions Signature GEN 8, or photochromic lenses, are lenses that darken automatically when exposed to sunlight, then fade back to clear when you return indoors. Transitions lenses come in three different colors – grey, brown, and green. Transition XTRActive lenses (now available) activates in the lower spectrum of visible light in addition to being activated by ultraviolet light. Therefore, they will darken better behind car windshields when compared to Signature GEN 8 series. These lenses are a great option for those with who don’t want to carry around a second pair of prescription sunglasses, but want protection from the sun. Transitions lenses also provide blue light protection as well!
